Linda Molasky, age 76, of River Road died on Nov. 6, 2008, at her home.

A native of Maine, Linda was born and raised in Portland, Maine. A daughter of Henry J. and Bessie (Richardson) Dougherty, she attended local schools, graduating from Portland High School with the class of 1950. Linda and her loving husband Merle Molasky were married on Oct. 28, 1950. Together they have made their home in Eliot where they raised a family and were very active in their community. She was the Sunday school superintendent, teacher and a member of the board of trustees at the Eliot Church of the Nazarene for many years. She also served as vacation bible school director for the Eliot Baptist Church for many years. As a family Linda and her family travelled with the Reginald Dunlap ministries singing. They also sang in many communities throughout the seacoast and were active in the Sandy MacDonald Minstrel shows in Eliot for many years. She was an active member of the South Eliot Advent Christian Church in South Eliot. Linda worked with York Hospital for a number of years as a CNA and for the Area Homemakers as well as private duty care.

Her first love was her family. She opened her home for many years to foster children from Maine and New Hampshire, many of the close to 40 children she cared for over the years remain a close part of her family today. Nothing brought her more joy than time spent with her children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Merle of Eliot; daughter, Pamela Jean and her husband Robert Burnham of Poquoson, Va.; sons, Vincent A. Molasky and his fiancee Lisa of Farmington, N.H., Dwight A. and his wife Fannie Molasky of Somersworth, N.H., Steven G. and his wife Lois Molasky of Portsmouth, N.H.; grandchildren, Stephanie and her husband Michael Sleeper of Norway, Maine, Stacy Molasky, Brian Burnham and Eric Molasky; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Devyn, Sophia, Desirea, Joseph-John and Skylar; sister, Ann Woodall and her husband Bud of Milledgeville; as well as two cousins with whom she was very close to growing up, Carolyn Matott and Gary Dougherty of Canton, Maine; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter Lynell M. Breiding.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Eliot Baptist Church on Route 236 in Eliot, Maine, 03903. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to her church, South Eliot Advent Christian Church 258 Pleasant Street Eliot, Maine 03903.
