Funeral Services for Mrs. Dorothy Johnson Gilman will be conducted, 11 a.m. Thursday morning in Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Glover officiating. Interment will follow in Heritage Memorial Park.
Mrs. Gilman passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2008. She was a native of Washington County and had made her home in Milledgeville since 1947. She was the daughter of the late William Morris Johnson Sr. and the late Bernice Cooper Johnson. She was the widow of the late Marion A. Gilman, and was preceded in death by her son, J.T. Pounds. Mrs. Gilman was retired from the construction business and recipient of the Baldwin County Citizenship Award in 1977. She was also a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Robin (Dennis) Gettis of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Wesley Gettis of Milledgeville, Walt (Joyce) Gettis of Ivey, Anita (Jeff) Kravats and Jammie Pounds both of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister Betty Jean McDaniel of Milledgeville; brothers, William M. Johnson Jr. of Sylacauga, Ala., Charles W. Johnson of Milledgeville, and Wyman Johnson of Sandersville; daughter-in-law Margie Ellis of Jacksonville, Fla.
The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. to receive friends.
