Mike Hughes, 58, of Loganville and formerly of Lawrenceville passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Fairview Presbyterian Church, Lawrenceville with remains placed in state at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hughes was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church and Lawrenceville Masonic Lodge No. 131 F&AM. He was a supervisor for CDC as an animal care taker in Grayson and CDC at Clifton Road in the Aids Lab for 22 years and director of Animal & Rabies Control for Walton County for 17 1/2 years.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna Huff Hughes, Loganville; daughter, Dana Hughes, Loganville; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Jeffrey Wilkinson, Milledgeville; son, Mickey Hughes, Loganville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and Fonza Simmons, Danielsville, Diane and Michael Shaw, Fort Smith, Ark.; sister-in-law, Dolores Hughes, Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Heather Hughes, Eric Wilkinson, Hailey Wilkinson; and several nieces and nephews.
