Mrs. Orr was the youngest daughter of the late William E. and Carrie S. Partain of Elberton. A member of First Baptist Church of Milledgeville, she was best known for her kind and generous spirit which she shared with her community through her volunteer work with Oconee Regional Medical Center, the Red Cross, as well as other organizations. During her working years in Richmond, Va., she was a five time nominee for the Thomas F. Frist Humanitarian Award for her exceptional work with troubled individuals. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for others, even in the face of her illness. Her life was especially a blessing to her family, who she loved and cared for in so many ways.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Cecil Herbert Orr of Sandersville; one son, Richard Orr (Sue) of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; two daughters, Susan Orr of Richmond, Va. and Lori Nelson (Paul) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three grandchildren, Katie Jane and Christopher Nelson of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Erica Orr of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; one sister, Nell Krecko of Lawrenceville; two brothers, Amos Partain (Libby) of Williamston, S.C. and Bobby Partain (Bonnie) of Belton, S.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the American Red Cross or the American Lung Association; or simply practice a random act of kindness in Mrs. Ruby’s memory.
