Mattox B. (Matt) Page, age 89, died Monday, May 12, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday at Minton’s Chapel, Advent Christian Church, in Kite.
Mr. Page was born Feb. 18, 1919, in Emanuel County, the youngest child of Leslie and John Page. He was preceded in death by his brothers, J.B. Page and Burley Page and his sisters, Ollie Page, Iris Odum, Jeanette Page and Sally Rivers. Mr. Page retired from Warner Lambert Pharmaceutical Company after 39 years of service. Before moving to Florida Mr. Page lived in Milledgeville. During World War II he served with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Bainbridge DD246. Mr. Page served as elder in the Advent Christian Church and was a member of Bixler Memorial Advent Christian Church in Dowling Park, Fla. His hobbies included beekeeping, gardening and growing fruit trees, the products from which he gladly shared with neighbors and church members.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Mr. Page is survived by his wife, Virginia B. Page of Dowling Park, Fla.; sons, John (Myrtle) Page of Macon, Wayne (Kay) Page of Big Canoe and David (Maureen) Page of Augusta; daughters, Jenny (Franklin) Harry of Tallahassee, Fla., and Nancy (Conrad) Douglas of Milledgeville; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour on Thursday at the church.
