Services for William J. “Bill” Martin, age 84, will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. in Williams Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Martin passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008, in an Athens healthcare facility. He was a native of Gwinnett County but had made his home in Milledgeville since 1958. He was a veteran of World War II, having served honorably in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Benevolent Lodge No. 3 F&AM, a member of Al Sihah Shrine, the American Legion, the V.F.W. and the D.A.V. He was the former owner-operator of Martin Funeral Home in Milledgeville until his retirement in 1993. He was very active with the inauguration of the American Red Cross in Milledgeville and instituted the Blood Drive Program in Baldwin County in the early 1960s. He was a member of the Georgia Funeral Directors and the National Funeral Directors Association. Mr. Martin was a member of First Baptist Church of Milledgeville.
Survivors include his wife, Jacquelina “Jackie” Martin of Milledgeville; daughter, Marcelina Martin of Milledgeville; sons, Allen N. Martin of Dacula and Dean J. Martin of Greensboro; sisters, Addie Reese of Commerce and Louette Johnson of Norcross; brothers, Roy Martin of Tennessee and Cleo Martin of Lawrenceville; four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home Friday evening from 5 until 7 p.m.
