Staff Writer The nickels and dimes and folded dollars dropped into the red kettles around town added up to holiday cheer for more than a hundred local families. The Salvation Army in Milledgeville collected more than $24,400 in Red Kettle Campaign donations during the holiday season. “Baldwin County is an extremely giving place. We’ve had a lot of donations and it hasn’t slowed down a bit,” said Julie Clayton, assistant director for the Milledgeville Salvation Army Service Center. This year’s total in red kettle donations is down 1 percent from last year’s total, Clayton said. Clayton attributes poor weather and fewer kettle volunteers to the decrease. “We lost several days from bad weather,” she said.
