Brian Duane Brookins, 36, was found guilty all seven counts in including 2 counts of felony murder and 2 counts of malice murder for the Oct. 14 2005 shooting deaths of Suzanne McDade Brookins and her 15-year-old daughter Samantha Giles.
Duane Brookins was indicted on two counts of felony murder, two counts of malice murder, one count of cruelty to children in the third degree, one count of aggravated assault, and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The jury deliberated an hour and a half before reaching their verdict. The jury had four choices for a verdict: guilty, guilty but mentally retarded, guilty but mentally ill and not guilty.
The sentencing phase of the trial will begin after lunch. The state is seeking the death sentence.
