Board members recieved news Monday that Putnam County high, middle and elementary schools all made adequate yearly progress this year.

Beth Bacon, assistant superintendent for student achievement and accountability for Putnam County Schools announced the AYP results to the board.

“We’re glad we made AYP, but there are some areas where we made it by safe harbor or percent gain,” Bacon said. “We’re looking at the demographics of students with disabilities and their performance in math and language arts for the county.”

Economically disadvantaged students at the high school also showed a weakness in math and language arts as well as being 5 percent under the state expectation for the graduation rate, although the group did make AYP due to percent gain in both areas.
