The Board of Registrars received notice from the State Board of Elections to return to the previous system of verifying identification, Chief Deputy Registrar Liz Rodgers said at the Board of Registrars meeting Monday afternoon.

Now voters may use the 17 accepted forms of ID or sign a statement of affirmation, as was the law previous to the Voter ID law. Voters are not required to show photo identification.

Advance voting began Monday, and poll workers are using the previous system as according to the law as it stands right now, Rodgers said.

“We kept the old forms, anticipating that something might change,” Rodgers said.
