I have a question about my Dell computer. I have a Dell Dimension computer that is about three years old running Windows XP for Home edition. I was looking around on my C drive the other day and noticed it is almost full and there is no room to add any new programs. My question is what should I do: Should I buy a new larger computer or can this one be upgraded so I can continue to put new stuff on it? I have heard you should just buy a new one every few years because they become obsolete by then anyway. What are your thoughts?

Paul

Well, Paul, there are a lot of questions there to answer so let’s start with the obvious and work though each of them separately.

First, it sounds like your hard drive is full, the question is do you need everything on it, or can some of it be cleaned up?

Everyone is different in how they store files. If your computer is full of files you use or a regular basis then I would recommend upgrading your hard drive to a larger drive. If it is full of files you do not need, or only use rarely you can either delete the files or copy them to CD or other device and bring them out only when you need them.
