The Baldwin County Board of Education meets at 5:30 p.m. today at the board office located at 110 N. ABC St. Here are the items on the agenda:

  • call to order;
  • Pledge of Allegiance;
  • roll call;
  • approve the adoption of the agenda for the Feb. 18, 2018 board meeting as presented;
  • approve the minutes of meetings held on Jan. 8 and Jan. 9, 2018 as presented;
  • approve the TAVT, sales and use tax report for the period ending Jan. 31, 2018 for all funds for information purposes only;
  • approve the financial reports for the Early Learning Center (ELC) for the period ending Jan. 31, 2018 for all funds for information purposes only;
  • approve the February 2018 personnel recommendations as presented;
  • ratify the purchase of metal detectors for Oak Hill Middle School and Baldwin High School from Grainger in the amount of $35,365.20 as presented;
  • approve the implementation of metal detectors for Oak Hill Middle Schol and Baldwin High School as presented;
  • approve the purchase of Chromebooks from Virtucom for Midway Hills Primary, Midway Hills Academy, Lakeview Primary, Lakeview Academy, Oak Hill Middle School, and Baldwin High School in the amount of $198,433.50 as presented;
  • approve the ELC community assessment as presented;
  • approve the ELC Head Start grant for the 2018-19 school year as presented;
  • approve policy JBC - school admissions to be tabled as presented;
  • approve policy JCDAF that deals with use of electronic devices by students to be tabled as presented;
  • approve policy JHCAA - Secret Societies to be tabled as presented;
  • approve the resolution honoring February as Black History Month as presented;
  • approve the awarding of the copier and printing services lease agreement to Sharpe Business Systems as presented;
  • approve the purchase of Automated Logic-Georgia for the ELC, the Board of Education building, Lakeview Academy, the stadium fieldhouse, and the NJROTC building in the amount of $317,350 as presented;
  • approve not requiring students to make up the two days, Jan. 17 and Jan. 18, 2018, missed due to inclement weather as presented;
  • approve the surplus of bus 992;
  • ratify the Baldwin High field trip request for the Marketing/DECA class to attend the Delta Epsilon Chi and Distributive Education Clubs of America State Career Development Conference in Atlanta Feb. 1-3, 2018;
  • approve the Georgia College Early College field trip request, Middle School RELA, science and math class to attend GCEC atrium in Eatonton May 8-10, 2018;
  • approve the Baldwin High field trip request for the SkillsUSA class to attend the Georgia International Conference Center in Atlanta March 22, 2018;
  • recognition of the Pursuit of Excellence winners;
  • recognition of our school counselors in honor of National School Counseling Week, Feb. 5-9, 2018;
  • recognition of the winners of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay and Creative Expressions Competition;
  • recognition of the spelling bee winners from Lakeview Academy, Midway Hills Academy, Georgia College Early College, and Oak Hill Middle School;
  • recognition of the Oak Hill Middle School boys and girls basketball teams for winning the Kaolin League Championship;
  • recognition of the Baldwin High NJROTC orienteering team for advancing to the Area 12 NJROTC Championship;
  • recognition of the BHS wrestling team for advancing to the consolation quarterfinal round of the GHSA state dual wrestling state championship;
