Ashlan Ramsey won the 84th annual Georgia Women’s Golf Association Championship at Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville, Ga. last Thursday. Rounds of 70, 69 and 71 left Ramsey six-under-par and one ahead of state rival Mariah Stackhouse. Prior to the GWGA win, she reeled off Georgia Women’s Match Play Championship, Women’s Eastern Golf Association Championship and Western Golf Association Championship victories adding to her impressive trophy collection. Ramsey just missed two other prestigious amateur titles this summer as well at the TRANS Amateur Championship and the Women’s North and South Amateur Championship at Pinehurst. Ramsey is currently ranked second in Golfweek’s Women’s Amateur Championship Rankings. This week she travels to the U.S. Women’s Amateur at The Country Club of Charleston in South Carolina Aug. 5-11. The course will play to a par of 71 at 6,488 yards. After 36 holes of stroke play qualifying on site, the low 64 scorers out of 156 players advance to match play. She will then represent Team USA Aug. 12-14 in the Solheim Cup in Parker, Colo. before beginning her freshman on the Clemson women’s golf team.
