Oak Hill wins William James Relays

MILLEDGEVILLE — Oak Hill Middle School opened its track season with a win in Statesboro at the William James Relays.

The boys and girls teams both captured first place finishes, running in temperatures in the low 40s.

The Oak Hill girls were led by trio Daloria Boone (first place in 400m, long jump), Brittany Trawick (first place in 100m, triple jump) and Zykeria Willaims (first place in 200m, second place in long and triple jump). All three girls also ran a leg on the 4x1 and 4x4 relay teams that also capture first place. Other strong performers were Courtney Butts (second place in high jump), Tamaya Browder (second place in 800m), Nekabah Smith (second place in 1600m) and La'Tessa Stanton (second/third place) in the shot put and discus.

The Oak Hill boys captured the win by placing in all events, led by Evan Simmons (first place 1600/800m) and Dalvin Ruff (first place 400m). First time throwers in the shot put and discus, TyChristian Henry and Keldrick Bell, both finished in the top five in both throws, while KeAndre Bolston (second place in long jump) and Darius Ruff (second place in high jump). Oak Hill foursome of Dalvin and Darius Ruff, KeAndre Bolston and Evan Simmons also ran away from their competitors in the 4x400 relay.

Oak Hill will travel to T.J Elder March 13 to start the Kaolin League season.
