Bobcat golf keeps top-25 national rankings

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Georgia College golf program and head coach Jimmy Wilson kept national top-25 rankings in the final lists posted during the 2012-13 season.

The Bobcats ranked No. 16 in the GolfStat.com Head-to-Head Rankings, also owning the No. 22 slot in the GolfWorld/Nike Golf Division II Coaches Poll.

The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) has four teams ranked in the top-25 of the Golf World Poll, led by No. 7 Columbus State University, followed by No. 9 USC Aiken and No. 20 Armstrong. Taking top honors in the Nike Golf Coaches’ Poll is Nova Southeastern University with Barry University holding on to the No. 2 spot.

The GolfStat Men’s NCAA Head-to-Head Rankings has the Bobcats holding the No. 16 slot, trailing two other PBC rivals: No. 6 USCA and 12 CSU. Taking the top two spots in the GolfStat rankings are again Nova Southeastern at No. 1 and Barry No. 2.

The Bobcats put together another strong season in 2012-13, one that saw Georgia College take top-five finishes in three different tournaments while also putting two on the All-PBC teams in outgoing seniors Taylor Smith and Patrick Garrett.

Bobcat golf also qualified for NCAA postseason play for the 16th straight season.
