Neely had the only pick for the Bulldogs defense against the Avengers, while Taylor Payne, another local standout, accumulated three tackles in Sunday’s contest.
“It’s great to have local guys. We always try to get local guys that can play at the level we need them to play at,” Williams said. “I’m excited to see these guys progress and mature and do the things we need them to do.”
According to Williams, the team is playing with the confidence it takes to win ball games, regardless of how they do it.
“There’s confidence in our guys even though we’re not playing as well as we’re capable of, we’re going to find a way to put more points on the board than our opponent,” he said. “I’m just proud of the way our guys rallied around each other even though we weren’t playing the way we were capable of, but they took care of business.”
