GC releases first volleyball schedule in school history

MILLEDGEVILLE — Highlighted by 10 home matches, the Georgia College volleyball program and head coach Gretchen Krumdieck recently released the first schedule in program history.

The Bobcat volleyball team starts off at home Thursday, Sept. 5, hosting Fort Valley State University in non-conference action at the Centennial Center, beginning at 7 p.m.

After four road contests, the Bobcats then kick off the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) slate at home Friday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. with the University of Montevallo.

The schedule features three-game stretches of home matches on three different occasions. The first comes early, when after starting PBC play, Georgia College hosts at tri-match Saturday, Sept. 14, battling Columbus State University at noon and the University of West Georgia at 4 p.m. CSU and UWG compete in a neutral site match at 2 p.m. in the Centennial Center.

The second of these stretches is a Wednesday-Friday-Saturday trio of USC Aiken, Lander University and Flagler College Sept. 25, 27 and 28. After that, the Bobcats host Francis Marion University and UNC Pembroke on consecutive days Nov. 8 and 9, then finish the home slate with Georgia Regents University Augusta Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.

Armstrong Atlantic State University swept both the PBC Tournament and Regular-Season titles, and the Bobcats will get their first crack at the defending champs Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. in Savannah. The Pirates will return the favor and invade the Centennial Center Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
