The Georgia College & State University men’s basketball program and head coach Terry Sellers announced the signing of Trent Kammerer.
Kammerer comes to Milledgeville via Dacula High School where he played for head coach and former GCSU player Justin Grant (1993-97).
Kammerer averaged 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest in 2007-08. He was named MVP of the 8-AAAA Region Tournament and was recently given the Gwinnett County Academic Award. Dacula was both the 8-AAAA Region Regular Season Champion and Tournament Champion. Dacula finished the season 27-3.
“Trent will fit in well here at GCSU,” said Sellers. “At 6-foot-7, Trent gives us more size on our frontline. He had a good year at Dacula and we believe his best basketball is ahead of him.”
The Bobcats are fresh off a 20-9 season in 2007-08 and are looking to build upon that success with a roster losing just a trio of seniors. Senior center Aaron Clark (2005-08) and junior guard Shaun Keaton (Albany, Ga.) picked up All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) honors for the squad. The 20-win season was just the eighth in school history, five of which have come under Sellers’ guidance.
