The Georgia Military College Bulldogs prep school team went up against No. 4 Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy Chargers Friday in a double-header, facing elimnation in round one of the GHSA state playoffs, losing 7-2 in game 1 and 4-1 in game 2 on a clear afternoon at Craig Field.
In game one Bulldog Ron Dudley pitched 7 innings, struck out 6, walked 3, and finished with a record of 5-3 on the year.
The Bulldogs got a total of 4 hits in the game. The top hitters for GMC were short stop Steven Wheeler who was 1-for-2, first baseman Corey Ellison at 1-for-3, catcher Matthew Harrison who hit 1-for-3, and right fielder Rodney Dudley at 1-for-3.
The only two runs for GMC were scored in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Eagle’s Landing Chargers scored 7 runs, 12 hits and 1 error in the first game.
Pinch runner Shane Bloodworth captured the first of GMC’s two runs in game one; Matthew Harrison recorded the next in the same inning.
In game two the Chargers scrored all four of their runs in the third inning.
Bulldogs second baseman William Fitzgerald git the only run in that game.
GMC’s Ellison was 1-for-3 and left fielder Clint Crowley went 1-for-3 for the only two hits of that game.
GMC’s Mech Melder was the losing pitcher in game two. He threw for a total of six innings, struck out 5 and walked one. His ending record was 4-5.
