The John Milledge Academy varsity baseball team is one win away from advancing to the second round of the GISA AAA state playoffs.
The Trojans had a chance to advance Tuesday, but split the first two games of a best-of-three series with FPD. JMA won the first contest 6-5 but lost the nightcap 4-3.
“We have to do the little things,” JMA head coach Gary Sanders said after the game. “The little things could have hurt us in the first game, but they didn’t. In the second game they did. We just have to get it done tomorrow.”
Blake Thomas took the mound for JMA, picking up a complete-game victory. He allowed five funs on four hits, struck out eight and walked three.
