Runs came aplenty in Huntsville, Ala., this weekend, as the Bobcats swept a three-game series, scoring 37 runs in the process.

Sunday's action was a close 12-11 victory over the University of Alabama-Huntsville (1-6).

The Bobcats wasted little time scoring runs, putting seven on the board in the very first inning. Both Chandler Snell of Loganville and Brad Jackson of Kathleen ripped two-RBI singles in the inning's effort.

The Chargers cut the lead to 8-7 with five in the third, taking advantage of a Bobcat error and a wild pitch. GCSU committed four errors in the contest.

With the lead at 12-9 heading into the bottom of the ninth, a bases-loaded single by UAH's shortstop Will Nichols brought home a pair, putting the tying run on second with two out. Shannon Anderson, in the similar situation for game two of yesterday's doubleheader, came up short again, as Michael Newman of Evans got a strikeout to preserve the save, his second of the year.

GCSU centerfielder Sean Harrell of Martinez went 3-for-6 with two runs and two RBIs, Snell would finish 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs, with Jackson at 2-for-5, two RBI and a run.

Bobcat catcher Pete Paris of Scranton, Pa., ended the day 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run. The Bobcats had four extra-base hits, all doubles.

Sophomore Brandon Owens of Covington entered in the third to nab the victory, his first GCSU win (1-0). He lasted 3 2/3 innings allowing five hits and three unearned runs, while fanning three.

The Bobcats are back in action at 3 p.m. today when they host Shorter College (1-4) at Kurtz Field.
