Lady Bobcats fall Road woes continue for Bobcat women From staff reports The Union-Recorder DAHLONEGA — The road woes continued for the Georgia College & State University women’s basketball team (11-9, 6-7 PBC) Wednesday as the Lady Bobcats fell 82-75 at North Georgia College & State University (14-6, 7-6 PBC).
Freshman guard Dominique Huffin (Tucker, Ga.) managed 24 points, her sixth with 20-plus this year, and senior Ashley Williams (Lawrenceville, Ga.) had her ninth double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Tiauna Brantley (Woodstock, Ga.) hit 7-of-10 from the floor en route to 17 points, while senior point guard Lindsey Smith (Decatur, Ga.) had 10 assists and five steals. The Lady ‘Cats had another solid-shooting loss, hitting 28-of-65 for a 43.1 percent clip. The Lady Saints out-did GCSU at 46 percent (29-63). All five NGCSU starters had double-digit points led by game-high scorer Megan Huffman at 27 points. Syretha Marble had 15 points and 15 rebounds, Kourtney Singleton had 17, Lindsey Kitchens 12 with eight assists and Rachel Jolley 11 points. A 20-6 run beginning at the 8:58 mark in the first half erased the second and final Georgia College lead, giving the Lady Saints at 42-31 lead with just over two minutes left before halftime. GCSU cut the lead to one on three different occasions in the second half, the last coming on a Jessica Baker (Snellville, Ga.) three with 3:26 left, but the Lady ‘Cats couldn’t regain the lead. The loss drops GCSU to seventh in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC), one game behind NGCSU and USC Aiken. The Lady Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at Armstrong Atlantic State University (12-8, 6-7 PBC).
