Fairbrass, with a 4.0 cumulative GPA and fourth in his class ranking, he has participated in School Government Association, Senior Beta Club, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, marching band, Odyssey of the Mind World Finals, Junior Cadet Leadership Camp, High School JROTC Battalion XO, varsity football, varsity soccer and in various community and church events and activities. He is a two-time recipient of the Character of the Week Award, has been nominated for membership in The National Society of High School Scholars, and achieved the Presbyterian College Academic Achievement Award, a Scholastic Athlete Award for football, Distinguished Order of the Servant Leader Award for more than 100 hours of community service, and numerous ribbons and awards for excellent performance as a JROTC cadet. With his family’s military background, he plans to use the discipline and skills learned through the GMC JROTC program to attend Georgia Tech or the United States Military Academy and major in mechanical or civil engineering in hopes to receive a commission in the United States Army.
The local STAR program is slated at noon Thursday at the Milledgeville Country Club as a joint meeting of the Milledgeville Rotary and Kiwanis clubs. Through the Chamber’s Keystone Investor Program, GMC will be the presenting sponsor of the award ceremony, and GMC President Maj. Gen. Peter Boylan will issue a challenge to the young scholars and their inspiring teachers.
The PAGE Foundation received 514 nominations from public and private high schools across the state. After STAR students and teachers are announced in local communities throughout the state, Georgia’s 2013 State PAGE STAR student and teacher will be named at the annual banquet Monday, April 29 in Atlanta.
