MILLEDGEVILLE — Oconee Regional Medical Center is asking for support from local governments in the wake of difficult financial times. The hospital faces a $3 million loss in the first nine months of the fiscal year. Much of the loss comes from providing medical care to indigent patients, according to CEO Jean Aycock. Charity cases comprise millions of dollars in losses each year for the hospital, and Aycock is seeking support from the City of Milledgeville, Baldwin County and possibly nearby counties whose citizens use the hospital due to the lack of hospital care in their home counties.
