Arrest made in Saturday shooting

MILLEDGEVILLE — A man has been arrested in connection to a weekend shooting that left one person in critical condition.

Twenty-two-year-old Patrick Renfroe was arrested Wednesday morning in the Milledgeville Police Department’s ongoing investigation of the Saturday aggravated assault.

According to MPD Detective Deidra Byrd, Renfroe is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and theft by receiving stolen property.

MPD officers responded to a 911 call Saturday morning in reference to gunshots heard in the area of West Thomas Street. Upon arrival to the scene, they discovered that a man’s car had crashed into the caller’s home.

The driver was struck on the back of the head by a bullet while sitting in his car, according to the MPD report. The victim was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia to be treated for his injuries.

“As of now, he is in critical but stable condition,” said Byrd said at press time Wednesday evening.

During the incident, the victim was alert and conscious enough to answer questions for the police. He stated that he believed the assault was due to a situation involving a female.

As the investigation continued, names of individuals who may be connected to the shooting have surfaced.

“Besides Renfroe, there are still other persons of interest that are being sought after in the case as we continue to look into it,” said Byrd.

Anyone who may have any additional information related to the crime is asked to call MPD at 478-414-4415.
