Downtown becomes one stop holiday shop

MILLEDGEVILLE — Milledgeville Main Street invites the community to complete its shopping list at the Holiday Pop-Up Bazaar during the December First Friday event, featuring various vintage, handmade and unique seasonal merchandise.

The festive event is slated from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Joiner’s Market building in downtown Milledgeville.

“The bazaar and the downtown businesses will be a great place to finish Christmas shopping,” said Carlee Schulte, director of Milledgeville Main Street. “This is our first time doing something like this. We wanted to do something relative and appropriate for the holidays, so the idea of having a bazaar is a great way to shop for holiday items. We’re just very excited about it.”

Around 22 creative vendors are slated to be on site, including Vary Vintage Vignettes, Southern Bounty, Pink Pig Sauces, Jams & Jellies, Compassionate Crafts, Nanas’ Buttons ‘n Bows, Two Sisters, The Crazy Dog Studio, Sassy Scentz, Georgia’s Old Capital Museum, The Shabby Chick, Oconee River Greenway Foundation, The Sassy Gal, Hollywood Elegance, Leah Holland Designs and more.

A range of goods will be available for shoppers to purchase, including vintage goods, unique and handmade jewelry, framed art, barbecue sauce, jams and jellies, handmade signs, ornaments, wreaths, hair bows, body scrubs, lotions, scarves and gloves.

Locals can also enjoy facepainting, drinks and a photo opportunity with Georgia College actors from The Nutcracker in a custom photo booth created by Fields Photography & Framing.

Lake Country Gymnastics will perform and The Vibe Dance Center will provide information on the upcoming show “The Grinch” while some will dress up as characters from “Whos from Whoville.”

The Chard Wray Food Pantry will also be on site collecting canned goods and monetary donations to help feed individuals in need. The group will be set up outside of The Lemon Tree from 6 to 8 p.m.
