Taste of Milledgeville returns

MILLEDGEVILLE —

A Taste of Milledgeville, a delectable event that first made its appearance during First Friday’s September 2012 installment returns for a second tasty year.  

Taste of Milledgeville will offer food samples from several different restaurants in Baldwin County, giving Taste attendees a wide variety of samples to choose from, according to a press release.  

The event is slated to take place once again during the September First Friday event on Sept. 6 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. 

“It turned out to be a popular event last year,” said Milledgeville Main Street Director Carlee Schulte. “We hope to see an even bigger attendance this year.”  

According to Schulte, for the 2012 Taste of Milledgeville event, more than 3,000 tickets were sold and 19 restaurants from Baldwin County participated.

“You always feel a bit hesitant when you’re trying something new, especially when it comes to fundraisers, but we were pleased with the turnout and the support we received from the community and all restaurants that participated in the event,” Schulte said. 

This year’s Taste of Milledgeville event will have a slightly different set up. 

Like last year, restaurants will be setup all over downtown and in the Post Office parking lot on Hancock Street, but in a more relaxed, restaurant styled setting. 

“We wanted to try and create a restaurant type atmosphere with entertainment to make it a more family-oriented experience,” said Schulte. 

Tables and chairs will be set up in the parking lot along with live music from the Fall Line Ramblers and the Oconee Regional Medical Center Kids Corner will have activities set up for children. 

The process for determining the winner is the same as before. Each attendee will be asked to cast their vote as to which restaurant had the Best Presentation, Best Taste, and is deserving of the Restaurant of the Year title.
