Triumph ‘Wings’ volunteers help spruce up HorseDreams

MILLEDGEVILLE — HorseDreams Youth Ranch was over taken on Saturday, Feb. 22 by a large number of employees of the Triumph Aerostructures Vought Aircraft Division in Milledgeville.

Approximately 40 employees who are members of the “Wings” project reported for work at 8 a.m. Wings is a Triumph community project that is humanitarian in nature and affects a significant number of people. It involves volunteer time (not for money) within the local community by Triumph employees.

HorseDreams was selected randomly to be this years’ beneficiary of the Wings project.

“HorseDreams has never been so blessed,” said Paula Barnes, president and founder of the youth ranch. “Never have we had this many volunteers from the community doing so much at one time on one day.”

Barnes and her staff of volunteers participated with the Triumph employees to complete the work.

Concrete was poured during the week and on repairs to the 15-stall barn and fence line were completed within a five-hour span that Saturday. Wings participants contributed equipment, time and labor and gave tirelessly of themselves in making sure all scheduled repairs were completed.

It was truly a wonderful day for employees of Triumph and HorseDreams volunteers working together to make a difference in the lives of local children, college students and families. Work that was completed will go a long way to insure that HorseDreams Youth Ranch continues to provide a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for all who enter the gates.

Paula and Max Barnes would like to thank the employees of Triumph and mention the following committee members of the Wings Project — Bobette Prosser, quality manager; Keeli Ewing, community events coordinator; Jamie Brett, facilities and maintenance supervisor; Andy Thigpen, facilities technician; Tena Wheeler, human resources director; and Merlin Fechner, Milledgeville site president.
