MILLEDGEVILLE —

The Old Governor’s Mansion was one of the Friday destinations for travel writers from across the United States and Canada as part of the 2013 Georgia Travel Media Marketplace.

Mansion director Jim Turner and curator Matthew Davis explained the deep history of the notable museum to interested guests.

The event, showcasing Georgia's Lake Country, runs through Saturday. Nearly 30 travel writers will explore Eatonton, Greensboro and Madison as well.

While in Milledgeville attendees visited Andalusia, the Sallie Ellis Davis House and the Old Capitol Building. In addition, writers experienced the unique dining and shopping establishments as well as hidden gems Milledgeville has to offer.

The Georgia Tourism Division and the host communities jointly showcase Georgia’s tourism assets through Travel Media Marketplace.
