The weather forecast resulted in the cancellation of Tuesday’s scheduled City Council meeting. City Hall is also closed today.
Council had a full agenda scheduled for Tuesday, which included Council’s regularly scheduled meeting preceded by a work session. The work session agenda included a presentation on the Community Strategic Planning Initiative from Johnny Grant.
The regularly scheduled meeting, which was slated for 6:30 p.m., was to include among other items discussion and a possible vote by Council on a resolution regarding the proposed charter for unified consolidated government for Milledgeville and Baldwin County.
Earlier this month the Unified Government Charter Writing Committee formerly requested that both city and county governments forward an approved referendum request to the state legislature thereby allowing the citizens of Milledgeville and Baldwin County to vote for or against government consolidation on the November General Election ballot.
Milledgeville Mayor Richard Bentley said Monday that the charter made the agenda for discussion due to the time constraints of a fast Georgia legislative session.
