MDA receives nearly $5,500 from city and county fire departments

MILLEDGEVILLE — A recent three-day boot drive effort by Baldwin County Fire Rescue and the Milledgeville Fire Department collected just under $5,500 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Firefighters presented MDA Executive Director Cole Posey with the check Tuesday.

Posey said the money would help send children to the organization's summer camp held in Rutledge, as well as contribute to muscle disease research. MDA puts $115,000 per day into this endeavor.

Generous donations like the one from the local fire departments also buy medical equipment, while assisting people with doctor's fees and clinical visits associated with the muscle disease.
