Military families receive free admission to Old Governor’s Mansion, Davis House

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Old Governor’s Mansion and Sallie Ellis Davis House will participate in the Blue Star Museums Program this summer.

Blue Star Museums is a collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and hundreds of museums across America.

The program starts Memorial Day and runs through Labor Day giving active and retired military members and their family free admission to the museums.

“This is just one way we can show our support and thanks to those who have served in the military,” said Matt Davis, director of the Old Governor’s Mansion and Sallie Ellis Davis House. “We hope many people will take advantage of the program this summer by coming to visit the Old Governor’s Mansion and the Sallie Ellis Davis House.”

This year more than 2,000 museums in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and American Samoa will take part in the program.

“Blue Star Museums has grown into a nationally recognized program that service members and their families look forward to each year,” said Blue Star Families Chief Executive Officer Kathy Roth Douquet. “It helps bring our local military and civilian communities together and offers families fun and enriching activities in their home towns. We are thrilled with the continued growth of the program and the unparalleled opportunities it offers.”
