Legion to honor veterans through flower distribution

MILLEDGEVILLE — Members of the Morris-Little American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 006 will hold a poppy distribution Memorial Day weekend in honor of veterans.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at two locations — Walmart on North Columbia Street and Lowe’s on North Columbia Street. On Memorial Day members of the American Legion will also be on hand at Kroger from 9 a.m. to noon to distribute flowers.

Legion members will distribute the red poppies and accept donations to assist veterans. The poppies symbolize the sacrifice of veterans and honor the men and women who have served and died for their country in all of the nation’s wars.

For more information call Carrol Griffin, American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 006 president at 478-453-0295 or 478-457-7718 or call Phyllis Humphrey, Unit No. 006 Poppy Program chairman at 478-456-1216 or 478-456-1204.
