Sheriff’s office investigating Wednesday shooting

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday concerning a gun shot victim on Harrisburg Road.

When deputies arrived, the 22-year-old male victim had left the scene. Eyewitnesses informed the responders that the victim’s family took him to the local hospital.

He has since moved to a Macon medical facility and remains in critical but stable condition.

According to the law enforcement report, the man was treated for a single gunshot wound to the upper chest.

Capt. Brad King said the exact physical location of the shooting is unknown.

“We did find a very little bit of physical evidence at the scene, but the evidence we found was not indicative of where he was shot,” King said.

It’s believed a small to medium caliber handgun was used on the victim.

The bullet entered the right side of his body and exited around his left side belt line.

Several witnesses stated they heard a single gun shot.

Investigators weren’t able to speak with the victim due to aggressive treatment of his wounds. The BCSO will continue follow up interviews this week.
