MILLEDGEVILLE — Officers from the Milledgeville Police Department and community members came together from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday at Chick-fil-A on North Columbia Street to discuss community issues, build relationships and drink coffee.
Coffee with a Cop provided a unique opportunity for the public to ask questions and learn more about the department's work in Milledgeville's neighborhoods. MPD handed out free coffee passes indoors and out, as they touched hundreds during breakfast hours.
Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction. Similar events are being held across the county, as local police departments strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.
Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
