MPD Explorer Academy slated in June

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Milledgeville Police Department Junior Police Explorer Academy will take place Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28. The Academy is open to youth ages 12 to 18 years old, who are interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement.

The Junior Police Explorer Academy will outline aspects of law enforcement such as traffic laws, criminal law and procedures, juvenile law and procedures, crime scene investigations, etc. MPD’s Academy will be held at the National Guard Armory located at 107 Ga. Highway 49 in Milledgeville.

Students should arrive between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m. each day. Classes start at 8 a.m., and as a courtesy to our instructors, we want all students seated and ready to go before class begins.

Parents will need to pick their student up between 11:30 a.m. and noon each day. Lunch will be provided.

Students will be asked to miss no more than two hours of instruction during the Explorer Academy. If for any reason your child will not be able to attend the Academy after he or she has been accepted, please notify us as soon as possible so we can fill that spot, as seats are limited.

Registration applications can be picked up at the Milledgeville Police Department. The Academy will be limited to 40 seats.

Completed applications need to be turned in at the Milledgeville Police Department no later than June 1.

Call Sgt. Danny Parker at 478-414-4090 or email at for more information.
