MILLEDGEVILLE —

Local investigators made an arrest this week in at least 12 home burglaries involving copper theft.

A suspect, Barrett Milner Jr., has been charged with three counts of burglary and other charges are pending. Investigators from the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office worked collaboratively on the recent rash of residential burglaries where a suspect or suspects stripped several homes of electrical wiring. At least two of the homes that were hit are located on the south side of town, according to Maj. Reggie Hill with MPD.

Police believed the suspect took the stolen wiring to local recycling businesses to sell; however, new state legislation that gives law enforcement access that aids in tracking scrap metal transactions benefited the investigation.

More arrests are pending.

Anyone with any information about the cases is asked to call Det. Quattrocchi at (478) 414-4072 or call the tip line at (478)414-4415 if they wish to remain anonymous.
