Hideout battery suspect captured Thursday

MILLEDGEVILLE — Milledgeville Police made a substantial domestic abuse related arrest Thursday afternoon.

Officers found 25-year-old Jamario Darnell Napier hiding in a Wray Homes roof after a tip that he was in the area. MPD took the suspect in on burglary, theft by taking (auto) and battery warrants.

Napier didn’t put up a fight.

“At that time, he knew he had nowhere to go,” Maj. John Davis of MPD said.

Davis said the suspect is well known to local law enforcement.

Napier has several outstanding warrants, though MPD took out three for a Sunday incident off Village Lane.

Police received a call concerning a domestic incident at a female’s residence in Northridge.

According to the police report, the male suspect broke into a 27-year-old ex-girlfriend’s home and assaulted her Sunday night.

At the scene, the responding officer noticed the female victim bleeding from her mouth and face, as well as holding her left arm “as if she couldn’t move it.”

The victim told Officer Marquita Driskell that Napier entered her home through the back door and came into her bedroom to fight. The female attempted to hide out in a closet hoping the suspect would leave.

Once Napier entered the bedroom, the female thought she could make it to her vehicle outside before the suspect could do anything to wake up the five children inside, according to the report.

The victim stated Napier caught her outside the residence, pushed her down and proceeded to punch and kick repeatedly, according to the report.

The female said “she balled up in the fetal position to avoid Napier kicking her in the face anymore, and after some time he stopped and drove away in her vehicle, leaving her in the driveway.”

Napier allegedly fled in the victim’s blue 1997 Ford Expedition. The female was transported to Oconee Regional Medical Center.

Police couldn’t locate Napier or the vehicle soon after the incident.

MPD later found the Expedition on W. McIntosh Street. The keys were still in the ignition, and the vehicle was left unlocked, based on the report.
