MILLEDGEVILLE — Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce volunteers formed an assembly line Monday evening at the Chamber office to season nearly 250, 10-pound Boston butts as part of its third annual Boston butt fundraiser. Each Boston butt was hand-rubbed and grilled to perfection overnight with the help of Dixie Que BBQ grill masters and local barbecue competitors. Individuals who purchased a ticket can pick up their pork holiday meal from the Chamber office today between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., entering from Greene Street and exiting onto Jefferson Street. ‘We will be selling portions of butts that don’t remain intact, so pints and quarts of shredded pork will also be available for $5 to $10,’ said Ashley Marcott, Chamber investor relations director. ‘These will come in handy for those who are buying the butt for Thanksgiving but want to sample it now.’ A wide variety of cakes and sweet treats will also be sold for $15 during pick-up time. ‘We want to give a huge round of applause to all of the volunteers who helped. It’s a long night for those who have cooked barbecue all night long,’ Marcott said. ‘It takes a lot of volunteer support and we’re real appreciative of it.’ For more information about pick-up, call the Chamber office at (478) 453-9311.
