Democratic Party meeting to feature mayor, Senate hopefuls

MILLEDGEVILLE —

The Baldwin Democratic Party welcomes all to attend Monday's quarterly gathering at Allen's Market starting at 7 p.m.

Speakers include Milledgeville Mayor Richard Bentley, along with Democratic U.S. Senatorial hopefuls Michelle Nunn, Steen Miles, Branko Radulovacki (Dr. Rad) and Todd Robinson.

Party Chairman Quentin T. Howell said the committee always drives to bring quality information to Milledgeville and Baldwin County residents.

Bentley will offer guests a state of the city style address.

“I feel (Bentley) has been working hard throughout the area on a variety of different things, and we look forward to him expressing that to us,” Howell said. “The work the City Council has done the last five years has been exceedingly grand. We are proud as the Democratic Party to have the most diverse City Council in the state.”

The Baldwin Democratic leader said the local party is committed to work with all elected officials to bring information to this and surrounding communities like Hancock, Putnam, Wilkinson and Jones counties.

Howell said Miles, Dr. Rad and Robinson are confirmed and he is hopeful Nunn will lock-in her Monday arrival by the weekend.

Those attending the upcoming meeting will hear the Senate candidates' plans for bringing this community and the nation back together.

“There are a variety of bills going through Congress that will affect not just Milledgeville, but also the state of Georgia they would be articulate on,” Howell said.

Milledgeville can often be overlooked within the scheme of national politics. Howell said it's great to have U.S. Senate candidates willing to drop by.

“The party is able to bring potential national leaders to Milledgeville,” the party chair said. “It doesn't happen a lot, but we are looking to continue that on a regular basis. Milledgeville is an important place, and I'm glad more and more people are recognizing it.”

For more information call Howell at 478-414-1120. Allen's Market is located at 101 E. McIntosh St.
