Man arrested for threats at local bank

MILLEDGEVILLE — A Baldwin County man is in custody and charged with making terroristic threats at a local bank.

Charlie Brinkley was arrested Tuesday following an incident that occurred the same morning at a branch of Exchange Bank.

According to the Milledgeville Police Department Maj. Reggie Hill, Brinkley allegedly walked into the bank around 10:45 a.m. and made threats toward bank personnel. He allegedly demanded money before leaving the bank.

When the teller refused to meet his demands, he threatened her, according to police. The teller then notified the bank branch manager, and police were alerted. Brinkley left the bank before police arrived.

Based on vehicle descriptions, Brinkley was apprehended during a traffic stop. The Federal Bureau of Investigation was also notified due to the alleged threats being made at a bank with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

Brinkley was booked and charged with terroristic threats and acts and trespassed from all Exchange Bank locations, according to police.

“Patrol did a fantastic job of responding promptly and apprehending the suspect,” said Hill via press release. “The threats made were taken seriously and required immediate action.”
