MILLEDGEVILLE —

Alicia Meadows of Georgia Power puckered up for her smooch with 10 week-old Piggy Smalls Monday as she was congratulated for raising $1,212 for the Boys & Girls Club of Baldwin and Jones Counties through its annual Kiss-A-Pig contest.

Meadows was awarded with a gift basket full of goodies. Piggy Smalls belongs to Randy Moody. With the help of fellow contestants Ashley Marcott of the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce, Mike Waers, lead pastor at Northridge Christian Church, and Dr. Noell Craig, orthodontist, the participants raised around $2,000 to support daily operations of the local Boys & Girls Club.

‘Combined with our Celebrity Waiters fundraiser, we raised a total of over $6,000 for the club,’ Director Paul Bernard said. ‘This helps keep our doors open. It’s a home away from home and a school away from school for area kids.”

The organization is gearing up for its annual golf tournament Saturday, May 18 at Little Fishing Creek with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Golf enthusiasts can register for $30 per person, or sponsor the event for $200.

A raffle for a Harley Davidson motorcycle is still up for grabs with proceeds going into a reserve fund for the club. Tickets are $20 per ticket, or five for $80 and can be purchased at www.harleydavidsonraffle.com. The drawing is slated June 7.

For more information about the club, to register or to donate, call Bernard at 478-456-5602.
