CSH used for local filming

MILLEDGEVILLE — Final scenes from the feature family adventure film "Crimes and Mr. Meanors" were shot at the Culver Kidd Hospital and the Powell Building throughout Friday.

Filmmakers, production crew and actors finally received approval from the State Properties Commission for use of Central State Hospital property.

The old medical facility fit perfectly into the script where the two teenage characters sneak into an abandoned hospital floor to track down a nurse. The lower front drive of the Powell Building transformed into a secret agent facility during night filming.

Creekside Films in conjunction with Glass Door Entertainment are using Milledgeville for numerous scenes from the feature film. Throughout the local process, the crew utilized the basement of the Community Visitors Bureau, state Rep. Rusty Kidd’s office space, the front of City Hall and others along the Wayne Streetscape.

Newly elected District 4 City Councilman Walter Reynolds greeted the crew. Reynolds said a uniform film permitting and fee process is under development.

"We have to get up to speed with the industry," Reynolds said.
