MILLEDGEVILLE — Georgia Cancer Support (GCS) raised more than $6,000 during the second annual Tee Off for Hope golf tournament at Little Fishing Creek last week.
"This was the largest fundraiser Georgia Cancer Support has ever had. It was incredible," said Robbie White, GCS founder. "We want to give a special thanks to our hole sponsors and Georgia College health class students that volunteered."
Friends of Team Carmen Silva also donated $2,400 through community donations to GCS.
Local Baldwin High School teen Josh Thompson, who currently battles testicular cancer, kicked off the event.
Nearly 50 golfers participated in a two-man scramble and had the chance to win various prizes, including gift certificates and gift bags from local merchants.
The overall winning team was Stan Charpin and Mike Blackshear.
Lunch and dessert was provided by Papa John’s and Goodie Gallery.
