Sell-A-Thon event raises nearly $2,000 for cancer patients

MILLEDGEVILLE — Childre Nissan of Milledgeville presented Georgia Cancer Support (GCS) with a $1,800 check Thursday.

The business held a Sell-A-Thon fundraiser last week, donating $100 for every vehicle sold, selling a total of 18 cars. Local volunteers helped with a Phone-A-Thon during the event, raising more than $1,000.

The Union-Recorder Advertising Director Erin Simmons won a University of Georgia gift basket by Monograms & More through a raffle, as well as a gift basket from Sew Sassy for collecting the most donations.

Other prizes awarded included gift baskets and certificates from Olive Forge Herb Farm, Elite Gymnastics, The Lemon Tree, Papa John’s, Chick-fil-A and Magnolia State Bank.

GCS is a Christian-based cancer organization that operates off donations and fundraisers. One hundred percent of proceeds collected goes toward patients’ needs and operating costs. The goal of GCS is to improve the quality of life for each cancer patient who requests the organization’s help.
