MILLEDGEVILLE —

Voters approved ordinances in both Baldwin County and the city of Milledgeville that pave the way for Sunday sales of alcoholic beverages.

The identical measures were passed overwhelmingly in both jurisdictions and will allow for the sale of packaged malt beverages, wine and distilled spirits inside Baldwin County.

Voter turnout was high Tuesday. Baldwin County Probate Judge and Elections Superintendent Todd Blackwell estimated that turnout would be between 75 and 80 percent. Preliminary results indicate that number to be 75.04 percent of registered voters.

Voters in Baldwin County voted 62.66 to 37.34 percent or 9,935 to 5,920 votes to approve the measure. Milledgeville voters voted 65.66 to 34.34 percent or 2,851 to 1,491 votes to okay Sunday Sales.
