MILLEDGEVILLE —

A prank call led to Monday morning's lockdown and search at Baldwin High School, a school board office official has confirmed.

Baldwin High School was placed under lockdown around 8:30 a.m. this morning.

Shortly after 9 a.m. today an official at the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that deputies were on hand at the school to assist in a situation but did not confirm the lockdown. A spokesperson from the school board office did confirm, however, that the high school had been placed on lockdown and that “everybody is safe.”

Around 9:30 a.m., a board office spokesperson confirmed that the lockdown was the result of a prank call, but that the school was checked and the lockdown had been lifted. She said "everything is back to normal" and that students and staff were resuming the regular school day as planned.
