A community-wide prayer vigil is slated for 3 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of All Faiths on the Central State Hospital campus. According to event organizers, the purpose of the vigil is to unite the community in prayer for the local school systems and children.

Local pastors have been invited to take part in the event. The event is open to everyone, particularly parents, children, teachers and community leaders.

A similar event was organized in August prior to the start of the school year.

Ministers will take turns sending their blessings to the area school systems, students, parents, teachers, faculty, school superintendent and the community.
