MILLEDGEVILLE — A local woman is $50,000 wealthier following a weekend lottery win.
Belinda Hill, 56, a Milledgeville mother of three, won the prize after playing the new Georgia Lottery instant game, Fire & Ice.
“I was in the store to get gas for work,” Hill said in a press release issued by the Georgia Lottery. “I got the ticket and told the clerk, ‘I’ll be back to get my money!’”
With three adult sons, the grandmother of 10 scratched the ticket while in her car in her mother-in-law’s driveway.
“I was blowing my horn like crazy,” she said. “My husband was sitting on the porch. He couldn’t believe it, and I couldn’t either.”
A juvenile corrections officer, Hill anticipates buying land to move her mobile home.
“I’m just so thankful,” she said.
Jet Food Store No. 0059, 1111 S. Wayne St. in Milledgeville, sold the winning ticket.
