Buffington's hosts Friday Diabetes benefit

MILLEDGEVILLE — Friday at 10 p.m., Buffington's will host a Diabetes Bash fundraiser for Nathan Patel.

Patel, a 17-year-old, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes last year.

This came as a shock to the family, because he was a healthy and athletic kid - always involved in sports, always active.

The financial shock hit the family as hard as the emotional one. They want to buy an insulin pump, but with mounting medical bills and the cost of health care, this has become a difficult task.

Four bands will play, and the cover charge is only $3.

Bands include Floco Torres, Sanction the Radio, Tha Hugs and Rapanui.

For customers 21 and older, they will receive a free drink ticket with their wristband. Proceeds from the door will go into Nathan's fund at Exchange bank.

The restaurant will also raffle off items (some made by blacksmiths and glass artists) and gift certificates at $1 a ticket. The proceeds from this raffle will go into his fund as well.

Buffington's knows that reaching out to the community can help them accomplish their goal.

If anyone wants to donate directly to his fund, please send checks to:
